Just a splash of colour

I just finished sewing another full skirt out of this super cute fabric from Spotlight.

Above is a close up of the fabric. I am not overly happy with the fit. I unpicked it twice to adjust the elastic. I need to make it a little bit tighter.

I went to Spotlight today and found some fabrics.

The top three fabrics I am making skirts for myself hehehe.

And these ones below I will be using to make more skirts, but for my Etsy store.

I spent an hour at Spotlight, and I didn't even have to use my special discount I got in the mail. When the girl scanned my Spotlight card I already deductions.... So, YES more shopping for me in the next week!!

Sewed a skirt...No Tantrums!

Yesterday afternoon I was in a sewing mood, and once I'm in it there's
no going back! So I decided to make a skirt with some fabric that was in my forever growing fabric box. This is what I came up with...and no tantrums!

I wore it to work today and I must say I am very happy with it indeed.
So happy I am making another one tomorrow. I'll show you all in my next post.

Last night I was on a eBay spree. This is what I got.

Strapless multi coloured 1980's dress for $10.00! I love the bow on the dress. In 2004-2005 I was obsessed with the 80-'s and bright colours. I'm not sure what's happened since moving back home... Black is my preferred colour.

I came across this vintage inspired style lacy dress from Primark... yes my UK readers I finally have something from Primark!! My two friends were saying the other day how much they loved this store!! I so want to go.

I got this baby for $11.99

And then today I got this MINK PINK dress which is brand new Apricot floral dress for $15.50.

I can't WAIT for my little goodies to come in the mail.

Tomorrow I am heading to Maitland to Spotlight as I have a 'Spend $100 or more store wide and get $40 off" AWESOME! Any Aussies reading this, I suggest you become a VIP member of Spotlight as it's free and you get awesome discounts. I'm going to search all the op shops in Maitland as well too. Ooooooh I'm excited. Shopping by yourself, I feel is BLISS!

Opportunity shop

Charity shop, thrift shop, thrift store, or op shop - Opportunity shop as what us Aussies call them. This morning I headed to the three op shops in my town to have a look around. Since I am now saving for our wedding I have to cut back on shopping and resort back to op-shopping. I can never find clothes here in my town, but if I traveled to Maitland or Newcastle I would find clothes.

The first place I went to was St Vincent De Paul's or being Australians we shorten everything and call it Vinnies. I found three bundles of some colourful fabric. The little old lady asked if I sewed, I said yes. She was said not many young ones sew anymore.

1st bundle was $1, 2nd bundle $2 and 3rd $2. I might make some headbands and some tote bags for my etsy store.

I found these cute earrings for $3! BARGAIN!

The second op shop I found these two skirt patterns for 50 cents each.

Two bundles of floral fabric for $1 each.

And these yellow earrings for $1.50

The last op shop I went to I found this bodice pattern with boning. Should be interesting.

All the op shops I went to I saw at least 2-3 people from the other op-shops. Their almost all walking distance from each other. On the way to the shops this morning I drove past this little store that looks very interesting. I always drive past it, but never really took notice of it. It's only opened Wednesday and Friday so I'll quickly pop in before work tomorrrow. It's filled with second hand goodies.

I'm off to the twilight farmer markets after work. I wonder if I'll find anything there!

Will you marry me Kikki?

Today was my day off and headed to Newcastle for my regular haircut. My hairdresser styled it up today, instead of down. This afternoon I did the grocery shopping in my boring town. Even this hairstyle gets stares.

I took hundreds of photos... and finally chose the last photo. It's almost 9pm...it's hot...I'm sweaty, tired and ready for a shower.

After my haircut I headed to Kotara Westfield to go to kikki-k which is a AWESOME stationary store. I discovered this store while I was working at Bondi Westfield in Sydney a few years ago. I was devastated when I moved back home as Sydney was the closest store. But, then Kotara got a store and all my dreams came true.
Last night I searched on their online store for a 2011 diary. For the past htree years I have always used the A6 Weekly Leather Diary. Each year I pick a different colour.

So I was in the store for about 15-20 minutes deciding which one to get. These were the ones I was choosing from.

images from kikki.k website

But I decided to stick with old faithful and get the one I always get. It's a perfect size and fits into most bags. I decided on pink this year.

I am one of those people that ALWAYS orders the same thing when getting takeaway... stick with what you know I say!

Been trying to make save the date cards for my wedding today... getting stuck on designs. Will post up some tomorrow and ask you lovely ladies for advice.

Back on Track

On the weekend I had one of my other best friend Jackie's wedding up at Evan Head. Here are a couple of pics.

The bride and groom

My two besties whom I've known since we were 5 years old. Suze and Stef. Suze has been living in Europe for the past 6-7 years so it's amazing to have her back in Oz for a while.

We make a beautiful lesbian couple :)

the only photo I got with all four of us. Luckily Jackie got a professional photo done of all four of us.

Three weddings are all over, no More road trips to the coast, back to reality and back on track. I applied for two jobs, one last week and one today. I have had two call ups from both jobs but, I haven't got a chance to speak to anyone as no one has returned my calls.  As I missed both calls. So fingers crossed I hear from someone tomorrow. One job is at OPSM which is a optometrist. It's a part time job and I think it would be fun helping people find the perfect glasses. The second job was a full time position at a employment agency, which has full training. Major bonus, both are in my home town! So fingers crossed as saving for the wedding has began!!!

Tomorrow I will be FINALLY hosting a giveaway. I always have plans to do one, but then someone else has one at the same time. And now is the prefect opportunity!

362 Days To GO.....

Friday just gone which was the 12 November 2010 was a year exactly till I become Mrs.Renfrew. Philippa Renfrew sounds lovely to me! So now it's 362 days to go, not that I'm counting. Ceremony and venue have been picked and booked. Dress has been picked and I'll meet up with my dress maker early next year to start the dress. That's as far as I've got, we haven't picked a caterer or decided what we're doing with alcohol, still have get chairs, tables etc...I'll eventually get there.

My main colour for the wedding is red and I'll combine silver or white with the red. I'm using this paper for the Save The Date and Invitations.

Here are few photos I found for inspiration

I love the umbrellas in this photo

Below is A Madame Butterfly Theme. I absolutely love this theme. I don;t think I'll go too crazy with the red. It looks so pretty.

WOW! I have alot to work to do.. but hey I've got a year to go. Everyone says "Time will fly!" I completely agree with this.

True Blood Obsession

I get real bad obsessions..... Daniel Johns from Silverchair, Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl and now Eric and Bill from True Blood. I've watched season 1 and 2... I will do ANYTHING to get my grubbie hands on season 3.

I'm trying my best to get this copy of Rolling Stone. Anyone in America want to help me out? PLEASE!

I would do ANYTHING for this man! He's HOT!

Have a lovely weekend lovelies. I'm off to the beach for the whole weekend. The weather is glorious and I must say I am pretty lucky to live in a beautiful country.

Guess who's back?

HELLLOOO there! Do you remember me? I'm BAAACCCKK! But not for long. Got back from my fabulous holiday on Tuesday night. And I am very lucky to say I am off again tomorrow for the weekend. Then the following weekend I'm off to another wedding up the coast. So I swear after then I'll be up to date with my blog. I am still in holiday mode so please forgive me. Here are some snap shots from my holiday and two fabulous weddings.

Wedding number 1 at Pacific Palms

Me throwing rose petals at the bride and groom.

Moi with some lovely lady friends. I didn't last long in my heels and brought flats with me.

Second stop Scott's Head. the view from our balcony.

Next stop Byron Bay

This photo was taken at the Hen's party.

The second wedding we attended at Byron Bay was held at a beautiful property with a huge house. The theme was "Wedding in the Grass" which named after the music festival Splendor in the Grass. The bride and groom first got together at this festival. It was by far the BEST wedding I have EVER been to.

The Bridesmaids

the beautiful bride and her brother walking her down the aisle.

Ben and I with the gorgeous Penny the bride.

Moi with my two best friends Amy and Stef

The groom chasing the bride. I love this photo!

Claude Hay played, he never disappoints me whenever I see him live.

At the wedding they had a massive tee pee with a silent disco. Big Day Out festivals had them which is where they got the idea from. There are headphones in the tee pee and you can switch to two channels where there is two different types of music. Example: One channel had Nirvana's Teen Spirit and the other had Alicia Keys New york. Every now and then I took my headphones off and looked around. It was the funniest shit I had ever seen. People dancing and singing CRAZILY with no music.. well there was music in the headphones. There was even times when there was people with no headphones dancing anyway! I laughed so hard.

The inside of the tee pee

The boys dancing... look how cute Ben looks :)

Stef and I at the silent disco. We look so drunk in this photo.. I love it! In the 25 odd years we've been friends this was our first wedding together.

Towards the end of night...sore feet, drunk and sick of dancing!!!

I will try o catch up on blogs next week!
