Fun Filled Weekend

Happy Monday everyone! How was everyone's weekend? I ended up having the girls over for taco's on Friday night. We ended up playing drinking games and I got dared to run down my street with my dress tucked into my bra and scream all the way down and back.... Not really that fun. Here are a few pics from my Friday night.

Then Saturday morning had to get up early to search for a shirt for Ben. I did something naughty and went into a shop and fell in love with this blue jumpsuit...plus it was on sale so HAD to get it. 10:30am woke Ben up and packed the car and headed to Sydney with another two friends. It was sooooooooo hot in Sydney and the friends place we were staying at didn't have air conditioning so I was sweating my little armpits away and my jumpsuit got marked big time! But the engagement party was AWESOME was great catching up with everyone.. I managed to get a few photos.

Yes I had a dress change at the end of the night....ugly bra straps showing but it was way to hot!

The morning after... the boys decided it would be funny to take sleeping pills while they were drunk! Yeah really funny!!! Everyone passed out and I woke up at 4:30am trying to find Ben! I was stressed big time... Luckily I found the poor thing in outside.....I vented my angry when everyone woke up that's for sure!

They all deserved to sleep on the floor!!

Hopefully I get to wear the jumpsuit again! It was a perfect lenght, not to short and not to long so I felt comfortable in it.

The Letter M

I have been wanting to blog all afternoon after work but it was way too hot where my computer is and I had a monster headache..then had to cook dinner, then clean up, then clean the bathroom, then do some washing...jesus and finally got to sit down and watch the ARIAS..Australian Music Awards.

After work this afternoon I headed to the local  costume shop to find a costume for a surprise party in December. The theme is the letter M, I was going to go as the Mad Hatter. I tried the costume on and it was so cute but then changed my mind as I am worried someone else will dress the same. So I am now going as a Marching Girl. There was a Toy Soldier costume, so I hired that and I bought a marching girl hat off ebay for $14.95 AUD.

This is the costume. It doesn't come with the leg warmers but I am sure I can make some.

I picked the red hat here off ebay as well.

Ben is going to go as Mario from Super Mario Bros Hehehhee he is going to look so cute and funny in this costume. Our town doesn't have this costume so we are going to travel to Maitland and see if they have one.

Horray it's freakin Friday tomorrow! The girls are coming over for a pool party, mexican, lots of booze and play some pool. YEEEOOOOOWWWW then Sydney Saturday!!!

100th Post....I have a cold :(

Woo hoo this is my 100th post!!!

That's pretty much all my excitement. I woke up yesterday morning with a sore throat, I thought it was from having a dry mouth while I was sleeping. So all morning at work I drank lots and lots of water and my dry throat just would not go away. Morning tea the hayfever kicks in GREAT! Lunch time...headache, sneezing, runny nose, then blocked nose... yep that's right a freakin COLD! NOT HAPPY!!! I'm not sure which one of my infested diseased friends gave this to me but it's really pissed me off. I can't go to the gym now because I am sick ARGH! Sorry this is the only place I can vent my feelings!!!

WHO THE HELL THE GETS SICKS IN THE SPRING? REALLY? COME ON! IS GOD PUNISHING ME?!!!

Fingers crossed I am better by the weekend or no drinking for me :(

42 Degree Heat + Beers + Pool Parties = Good Times!

Another hot hot weekend! Friday afternoon Ben and I headed to Newcastle to have dinner with four of our other couple's friends. Two of the couples got engaged the last two weekends ago, so you can guess after the boys had a few beers all they talked about was bloody weddings! I was so over it, they sounded like a pack of girls. We annouced to our friends that we FINALLY set a date for our wedding 11/11/2011... then all the jokes came, "oh do you need two years to make your dress?", "Are you going to have a one mintue silence at 11am?" , "Did you pick the date so Ben would remember? "........... ARGH! I was over it! Ben said they're  probably jealous because their fiancé’s want to get married straight away. In total this year there has been four engagement's from our group of friends including us. Next year we have three weddings! ARGH!!!

Sunday Ben had a golf day at 7:30am, I know early especially for him. One of our friends, not a close friend but someone we knew commited suicide a few years ago. Every year they have a memorial golf day to raise money for depression. I turned up to the fundraiser at about 2:30pm and Ben was very drunk... very entertaining. We ended back at our place with a few friends, with a couple carons of beer and swam in the pool all afternoon untill the sun came down. I had a very entertaining afternoon watching the boys wrestle each other in the pool and hurt themselves. My highlight of the night was hearing Ben while I was in bed singing on the top of his lungs "JUST EAT IT EAT IT, PUT SAUCE ON YOUR PIE AND EAT IT!" I was so ANGRY because I was trying to sleep but I just couldn't stop laughing! I walk downstairs to yell at him and there he is still singing with a meat pie on his plate ready to eat! I am laughing now as I type this... he makes me laugh so hard everyday.  So that was my excitement for the weekend :)

Today I finished off the dress I am planning on wearing this weekend to a friends engagement party. I'm not really happy with the overall result but I will still wear it. The belt hides where I don't like what I've sewn.

Back to work tomorrow! I love having Mondays off makes my week go so much quicker!

Daily Outfit

Holy Moley!!! It's still 42 degree's outside! When you walk outside it's like a oven, no joking! Work has been dead all day, what kind of moron would leave their house to come outside anyway? I was bored at work so I decided to take a photo of myself (as you do!) and my outfit. I took these photo's with my iPhone.

This is my favourite skirt, you have probably all seen it before. It's so comfy. I wear it slightly on my hips, it looks funny on the waist.

THANK FUCK IT'S FRIDAY! Excuse the language but it was necessary! Fingers cross Ben cleans the pool tomorrow morning so I can go swimming YAY! He tried cleaning it this morning when he came home from work but it was way too hot.

Hottest Spring Ever!

Thanks to all the lovely ladies who thought I look fab with or without glasses. Luckily I have the most loving hubby to be who tells me he loves me with out glasses. Even my best friend Stef sent me a quick email after she read my post saying she loves me without my glasses... I'm so lucky to have the both of them as my besties!

Just a quick email to say that OH MY *%#$ING GOD it's going to be 42 Degress today! Thats 107F! How bloody hot is that! Plus the air con isn't working at work so I am going to sweating up a storm today. After work Ben and I driving to Newcastle to catch up with four of our other couple friends, for dinner and drinks. Plus two of the couples got engaged the last two weekends, so will be a little celebration and there will be ten of us at dinner. I'm not drinking so we can drive home that night. I think I am going to wear the pink dress I wore on Monday from my other friends birthday dinner, but will dress it up with some heels and accessories. Ooooooooooo I'm excited! I always forget to take photos but I'll try to remember.

Please everyone feel sorry for me for living in this heat! I shouldn't complain as I do love the heat, but a nice breeze would be nice but I think I'm dreaming!

I Heart Agyness Deyn Haircut!

I FINALLY got my haircut today after a long wait! I swear to god my hairdresser Lee and I are on the same wave length or we can read each others minds. For a while now I have been thinking of copying Agyness Deyn's haircut. I have had the short one side and long the other side haircut for a while now and I wanted something different. Plus Ben's sister has recently got her haircut like my old one so it was definitely time for a change. I told him when our wedding date is, so I don't need to start growing my hair just yet. So this haircut was perfect. It doesn't look like Agyness Deyn haircut to a T but it's slightly like it with my own twist to it.

Thought I would post up a pic of myself without glasses. Alot of my friends tell me I look better with glasses and that I shouldn't get contacts. Really hurts me when friends say that, I think once they see me without them for a while they will get used to it. It's not something I want to do forever, I have two years to practise wearing contacts as I don't want to wear glasses when I get married. I HATE touching my eyes and wearing eyeliner, I have anxiety attacks only when it comes to the contacts not the eyeliner... I know loser!

I googled Agyness Deyn and found these pictures of her. And I realised she is born in 1983 like me as well! I didn't think she would be my age.

I might even try to attempt this do!

When it gets abit longer I can style it like this too.

Daily Outfit

Thought I might post my outfit I wore to work today. Nothing special, the shoes really don't go with the dress but I still wore them hehehehe.

My girlfriend loved the pj's I made for her! She doesn't own any pj's so she was stoked. We went to a local pub for dinner and the special that night was $5.00 burgers and chips. We ordered at 7:30pm and we still hadn't got them at 9:30pm. So we complained and as we were some of the boys got their Morrocan Burgers and there was three little pissy pieces of chicken?! WHAT A JOKE! So we asked for a refund and went to McDonalds! Hahahahha!

I am finally getting my haircut tomorro morning! My hairdresser has been off as his wife had a baby!!! There's really not much he can do to my hair... so I might have to go shorter or grow it. Grwoing it = YUCK! I look terrible with long hair.

Thank god Monday is almost over!!!

Birthday Present for my Girlfriend

Wow!! Today was bloody hot! 38 degrees today and my god was I sweating up a storm in my pool room while I was sewing today. My house is a split level and has three levels, the bottom level used to be a garage and owners from way back turned it into an entertaining area. Our pool table (which is my cutting table much to Ben's disgust) is in this room, along with a bar (which we haven't really used) and a beer fridge. In the Summer I normally sew down there as it's so cool in there. But not today! Jesus it was hot!!

So.......... I made and finished my friend’s birthday present. She is always bugging me to make her something and I am soooo selfish that I only make for myself. So her birthday was a perfect opportunity to finally make something especially for her. I found this pattern off burdastyle negligee top and shorts, which will be perfect for summer, and I don't think she has pj's either so even better. I printed out the pattern last night and pieced it all together.

Here is the original paper pattern.

I then figure out what size I need by checking the measurements. Because I want to use this pattern again and probably in another size, I got this interfacing you can use to trace patterns with. I just traced the size that my friend is and then I can easily fold the pattern up and put into my folder with my other patterns.

This is the first time I have ever made something for a friend. So I am little nervous giving it to her, but she's excited about it so I shouldn't  really worry.

Time to go back into the lounge room in the air conditioning..... Then eventually venture my way up to my room which is the hottest place in earth to get ready for Corrine's birthday dinner! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I am so keen for a nice cold beer!

Sadie Dress #1 was a Success!

Hey there lovely ladies! It's Sunday night and the weekend is pretty much almost over. I had a fab weekend at my future father is laws 60th, it was a beautiful afternoon/night so made it even more special. My dress I made for the special night turned out pretty good. Some people didn't believe I made the dress so that's even better. Here is the finished product on.

Sorry for the such poor and horrible face I'm pulling. My heels kept sinking into the grass. PLUS, Ben can NEVER take a good photo of me! I always seem to have my eyes closed and makes people think I am more Asian than I am! I'm Aussie not Asian! Geezzz.... :)  

It's my friend Corrine's birthday tomorrow.  I have the whole day off and I am making her something for her birthday. I don't think she has been checking my blog out lately but I won't post up what I'm making her until I give it to her. I've traced out the pattern already and will probably cut the fabric tonight or early tomorrow morning.

Another Sadie Dress!!

I found this awesome fabric on the weekend for $4.00 a metre and I had to have it. I have an engagement party end of this month and the theme is relaxed cocktail so I decided to make a dress for it. I haven't finished yet, I have to sew the binding around the neckline, the hem and probably make a belt as well. But looking at the dress I might make the skirt higher on the waist.

After looking at this picture I am going to make the skirt higher on the waist and shorten the hem as well. I always like to make sure I have extra fabric for the hem just in case.

My next project is the McCall's Hilary Duff pattern

Then I'll be foccusong on making a dress for my friends wedding in March! I'm so excited!!! Whenever I am sewing i totally forget the time and then after hours of sewing I check the time... ooops!

Wedding Plans are SLOWLY Starting!

Yesterday while at work I was writing down dates in one of the special order books and then all the sudden 11.11.2011 came to my head. That's the day I want to get married!! So I text Ben thinking I wouldn't get a reply and he texts back "Yeah ok that's heaps of time" I assume he's being smart as he is most of the time and we text back he was for real! OH MY GOD!! I can't believe we have both finally agreed on a year and a date, I am so happy. I want a cocktail wedding not a traditional sit down wedding. I love sit down weddings but I think a cocktail wedding would be so much fun. There will be more time for us to mingle around and talk to everyone and really enjoy ourselves, sitting down for an hour or so just doesn't really appeal to me.

We both want to get married near the beach but we agreed on getting married in a church as we are both Catholic and both our families would like that. Then have the reception near the beach, we are planning on getting married in Newcastle which is an hour away from my town. I studied and lived in Newcastle so it holds a lot of memories for me. I was up all night on the internet looking for venues. I think I have found one I really really like! It's right across from the beach. Here are a few pictures from their website

I haven't had a chance to tell Ben as he's on nightshift tonight and tomorrow night :( Will have to tell him on Thursday. Ooooooooooo means I can go dress shopping too! how exciting!!!

BurdaStyle Sadie Dress

Yesterday I sewed the Sadie Dress which I got from burdastyle.com. I originally sewed this dress last year some time and used the fabric the pattern suggested which was knit jersey. YUCK I hated using it and it looked terrible. SO I found this lovely fabric at Spotlight a few weeks ago and was eying it off for a while. When I heard my father in laws 60th was Hawaaiin theme I decided to use that fabric for a dress. The Sadie pattern is a basic knit tank with three options to the pattern. The basic tank, cowel neck, and a dress as well.

I slightly changed the pattern to suit my needs. I shorten the top, and I made the skirt sit a little higher on the waist and made it longer and I didn't add the bottom skirt facing. I'm not sure WHY they even had that piece as I don't think it's needed. With the original dress it doesn't have a zipper as it says to use a knit fabric so you can just pull over your head. I added a zipper on the side but it was annoying me too much under the arm so I added a centre back zipper. I didn't really think first before I started sewing the dress and realised how was I going to put the zipper in.  But last night I wrote down the other way to sew it with a centre back zipper. Here is the finished product. I'll post pictures up when I am actually in the dress this weekend.

I made a belt out of the same fabric. not sure if I'll wear the belt. I tried the dress on with a black belt and it looked better as it broke down the brighten in this dress.

So honest opinions please! Is this fabric nice? Or am I going to look like a Grandma? The lady who served me said how pretty the fabric was, and she looked my age....  I'm actualy very happy with the end result and I will be wearing it. I have an egagement party in two weeks in Sydney which is relaxed cocktail theme. I might make the same dress but in a satin/silk fabric I found. Oooooo I can't wait!!!

Ok this isn't going to be easy as I have given out a few facts already but I'll see how I go.

1. I am the only child, I have a half brother and sister on my Dad's previous marrige and a sister in the Philippines which is my mum's daughter. I have never met her but one day would love too. I am very close to my brother, we both do not talk to our sister...blah. and yes I was spolit but it sucked being the only child.

2. I have really bad hayfever, this year it has got worse and Ben hates me sniffing and blowing my nose at 2am every morning hehehehe.

3. I love cooking! I'm not here to brag but I think I am a pretty good cook, Ben and my girlfriends think I am. My best dishes are Shepherds pie, chicken and paste bake, lasagne, chicken parmigiana, thai red curry, sweet chilli and lime stir fry and fried rice. At the start of the year I wanted to go back to hospitiality and work back in a pub but Ben said "But who would cook me dinner?" hehehehe so I stayed being lady of leisure!

4. I am really bad at maths... real bad! I need a calculator for everything!

5. I have a few penpals from all over the country. I have been doing the penpal thing since I was 12 years old. I love writing letters and especially getting hand written letters in the mail. I think it's awesome that someone took time to write you a letter. Plus I love getting mail :)

6.  My one true love is Daniel Johns from Silverchair! Everyone and I mean everyone from school knew I loved Silverchair. Ben and all my friends tell me he is gay but I don't care. I am even in the Silverchair fan club.

7. I love beer and lots of it!

Phew...that was hard! I wish I could pick all my favourite blogs but that just wouldn't be fair now would it?

I have so much to blog about but I have so much to do and want to do! so I'll save it for tomorrow. It involves fabric shopping and sewing! YAY!!!

Just one of those ugly, fat and uncomfortable days!

I had the worst day ever yesterday! Hence no blog. I'm sure most girls out there can agree with me that they have one of those days where you feel fat and ugly. Everything I put on yesterday I hated and it really upset me. And honestly I haven't had one of these days in a LOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGG time.

Ben and I headed to Newcastle to do some shopping for our niece’s birthday. It was overcast day and slightly cold. So I put on my skinny jeans and a long sleeved black t-shirt and brown flats. I was so self conscious about my stomach I was trying to hide it by putting my handbag over it! How silly!!! I have NEVER done that. On the way home we got McDonalds, so that really didn't help. And maybe Ben telling me I should stop eating junk food because I'll get fat doesn't help either. He says he's joking but is he really? It makes me wonder most of the time. So we get home Ben brews some beer and I go do the grocery shopping. I was such a good girl and didn't get any junk food or soft drinks so there was a start. I get home, for the next few hours I clean my sewing room then decide I have to get ready to go up to Ben's brother's place for our niece's 1st birthday.

I swear it took me an hour to find something to wear.... Ok you’re thinking that's not long. But to me that is a long time, I can get ready half an hour max even less. Everything I put on I felt really fat and really uncomfortable. The main reason why I felt like this as it was such a weird weather day I didn't feel right wearing a dress. Plus I hardly have any tops and or t-shirts; ok I have a few but not plenty. All the ones I put on I was worrying about my stomach. Ben even tried to help me pick something and he said to put on a skirt but I said I was worried about my bruise... Then it happened....The water works came out. I was standing there in my bra and undies feeling even more vulnerable in front of Ben crying my little eyes out. Choking on my tears saying how fat I felt and how ugly my bruise is on my leg. Then I think it really hit Ben, that all the stuff he says does hurt me. And he proceeded with the "I love your body", "I'm sorry I tease you, I won't do it anymore", "You know I love you" made me cry even more. So I spent another a few moments finding something and continued sobbing whiles ironing a shirt. Eventually I found something and felt comfortable.

I don't think I am obese or anything like that, but it made me realise I really have to start working a bit harder if I want to stay this size. I go to the gym 4-5 times a week but I am still eating junk food and crap. Going to the gym to me is fun and I'm really enjoying it, I think that because I am going more often I think I can eat junk food still all the time. So today I have started a food diary and I ate healthy all day and even drank almost 1 litre of water. That’s huge for me, so we'll see how we go. Fingers cross I can stay in track, it doesn't mean I am going on a diet, I don't do diets! It's more of a healthy eating plan and still treating yourself with a chocolate or a ice cream.

Thanks for letting me vent, needed to get all my feelings out.

On a more happy note, one of my good friends is getting married in March. I was supoose to be a bridesmaid but she is now only having two. She was so worried about telling me, I said as long as I am at the wedding that's all that matters. Plus I don't have to wear a ugly dress hehehehe. So I was thinking I might start looking for a dress pattern and make a dress for it. Here a few I found.

Once again I don't know which one to pick!
