Parklife Outfit

This afternoon got me thinking what the hell am I going to wear to Parklife! People who aren't from Australia, Parklife is a music festival that is held in each main city of a few states in Australia. I have been going every year since 2005. It's probably by far my favourite festival now, instead of Big Day Out and Homebake. I have been searching online for something, but of course I can't find anything. But I found one dress that I like, it's MINK PINK. I might even just buy it because I love it.

I am going to share with you my outfits from past festivals and gigs I've been to. I couldn't upload too many of them as I am a little worse for wear in most pics :)

Another Day Another Dress

Well after work tonight I went to pick up my lay by from Lotus in town, and I some how ended up going through the "buy one get one free" racks and found myself two cute tops.

I originally bought this dress to add to my "work wardrobe" but I think I might actually wear this on Saturday night instead of my striped dress I made. And I prob will consider wearing this to work but probably over jeans with my cute black flats.

And here are the cute tops I got as well. I have just realised I like bows. I have a few tops and dresses with bows, oh deary me.

Living Doll Cream Singlet with Bow

Sass Fuschia Tee. It says down the bottom "The darlings hit the city"

I'll be doing my Project Runway update either later tonight or early tomorrow morning before work.

Lady Leisure's Shopping Trip

Today was my day off and I headed off to Newcastle in the morning to attend a training session at a web design place. At my work my sister in law is setting up a online store through the shop. It's all very exciting and I'm really looking forward to getting trained up even more and start helping out.

After that I had an hour or so spare before my haircut so I headed to Kotara Westfield and grabbed a few things at Wild Surf Co. I am in serious need of just casual clothes. Here's what I got.

Rip Curl Happy Gilmore Tee

Element Lily V-Neck

Volcom Revolver Boyfriend Denim Shorts

These shorts are the most comfy shorts ever! That's probably why they are called Revolver Boyfriend.

After my little shopping trip I came home and finished off this dress which I got the pattern off burdastyle. Its the bust contour dress, its a little short, so I was thinking of adding a more fabric at the bottom. I could get away with it, but it's a little too short for my liking.

Sorry for the dodgy pictures, Mr Pookie is working night shift so he couldn't help me :(

>

Overall I am happy with it, just need to add extra fabric for them hem. I'm going out this Saturday night to watch Art vs Science in Newcastle so I might wear it then..YAY!!!

Essentials for your Summer Wardrobe

Hello there Ladies! Here is what I think are the essentials and necessary items we all need for summer.

Tops: Basic tops and singlets. Plain colours like white, black, grey, blue etc that can easily go with your other pieces in your wardrobe. You can never have enough basic tops and singlets. Just Jeans have great deals with 2 for $40. I recently put a lay by on with two basic tops, and denim skirt and brown belt.

Denim Shorts: Every girl must have denim shorts for summer. Denim pretty much goes with everything and you can get away with wearing them a couple of times a week before washing them. If you like short shorts, go for it, or maybe a knee length or just above the knee.

Skirts: Now I've never been a skirt girl, but the last few months I have been wearing skirts. Probably soft flowing material skirts would be great for summer and also denim.

Dresses: Dresses, dresses and more dresses! I think a girl can never have too many dresses. Come see my wardrobe and I can prove it. Dresses are simple and it's pretty much a whole outfit. All you have to do chuck on some shoes and maybe some accessories. And a girl must have a little black dress, this is a must, I have many :) It's perfect on a hot summers night to wear out with some killer heels or some cute flats.

Kaftan: I consider kaftan's pretty much like dresses. They are great to wear over swimmers, but I think they are fantastic as a dress. I only own one kaftan and I abused it while I was on holiday in Queensland this year. You can dress them down to the beach, then dress them when you go out.

Thongs/Sandals:Most people in Australia have at least one pair of Havaianas even Mr Pookie owns a pair. A pair of cute flat black sandals are definitely a must for summer. Sometimes when I go out I don't feel like wearing heels so a dressy pair of flats is perfect.

Hat: I am a hat girl as I have short hair and I have many bad hair days. A big straw floppy hat, or cute cap. of course anything cute and that keeps the sun off your face

Swimmers: I am ashamed to say I only one one or two pairs of swimmers. I would like more but I honestly can't find any that I like. But swimmers are definitely a necessary item for summer. One pieces are coming back in and there are alot of beautiful ones out there. I might even consider buying one this year.

Sunnies: I think most people have sunnies. I am blind as a bat so I have these ugly looking prescription sunnies.....eeewww!

it think I have covered everything. But keep in mind when buying clothes not to buy everything that is in fashion or a trend. Because by next year it's going to be in fashion anymore and it will look dated. I think buy a few pieces that are trends so you can at least wear most of them for the whole season. Like those ridiculous gladiator sandals that go up to the knee, like really are they necessary? They are absolutely horrible and not flattering at all. Just buy the basic gladiator sandals for a less dramatic look.

The weekend is over.....

Just got back from Seal Rocks and I had an awesome time. The weather wasn't that great, but of course the day we leave its a beautiful day! We stayed in one of our friends caravan that sleeps six people. My friend Amy who owns the van has decorated it inside really nice. Now that I am thinking about it, I should of taken photo's of her van inside, oh well next time.

Pretty much the whole weekend I wore the same thing, long sleeved shirt, my volcom black hoodie, jeans or my purple shorts. Which my other friend laughed so hard when she saw my purple shorts. but this morning I was the one laughing because she didn't pack shorts only jeans and it was pretty hot today! NOW WHO'S LAUGHING, NOW WHO'S LAUGHING (The Simpsons). I am definitely keen for a summer trip to Seal Rocks next time as I have only been there twice now and its been either Winter or just coming into spring. I am excited about getting out my dresses and swimmers!

Here a few pics for you!

Project Runway Australia Episode 7

Oooooooooooo another Project Runway Australia update! This weeks challenge was to create an innovative outfit using the food and packaging available to them at Victoria market in Melbourne. Sounds a bit odd doesn't it? But I was quite interesting.

One of my favourite designers Yopie Starfurik was eliminated last night :( She reminds of myself, her personality is a little like me. Swears a lot and has bad time management skills when it comes to sewing. The judges didn't like her design as it was more Flintstones than fashion. Below is her design.

The Winner of this challenge was Ivana Stipicic. Ivana got back into the competition last week after all the eliminated designers were back on the show to help the other six remaining designers create an outfit for the races. Ivana used green and purple cabbages and rhubarb to create a party dress. The colours of the vegetables are amazing. And this design really reflects on her personal style as well.

And last but not least my favourite design was from Lauren Vieyra. She peeled and sewed 59 onions to create a dress. The judges were very impressed with her design and agreed that every week she is progressing into a real designer. Which I agree with, I really didn't pay too much attention to her. But after this design I really think she might have a good chance of winning.

Now we have to wait till next Wednesday night :(

I'm off to Seal Rocks tomorrow for the weekend. So I am off to pack all the essentials and will be back to post what I'm packing.. and whats necessary for a lady to pack when going camping... OK I'm not going camping, but we are staying in a caravan. I still haven't been camping yet, I am slowly progressing into it. I'll have to get some practise in. When my fiance was younger his family always went camping and he said when we have kids we will be camping ARRRGGGHHH!!! HELP ME!!!

Lady Leisure is Back in town!

Today was a beautiful sunny day! But of course I still felt the cold, we have a old and cold house so track pants and jumper was in check. But I did get to wear my thongs (flip flops for any Americans reading)when I did a quick run to the shops. I haven't worn them since my holiday up in Airlie in April/May.

Of course Lady of Leisure didn't do much. Just the usual house work and bumming around. I did get some sewing done. I am in the process of making a contour bust dress which was a free pattern off www.burdastyle.com. I have to sew bias binding on the top, and hem the bottom. I cut the dress a little too short but I can wear it with tights or over jeans. I will probably make another one and alter it a little as the back is slightly weird for some reason????

While trying to clean my sewing room this afternoon I found this pattern I bought from an op shop a while ago. I think I'll definitely be making this for summer. Summer please hurry up!!!

Comments Comments Comments

Why hello there! What's your name? YOu should leave a comment as I have now realised no one and I mean NO ONE could comment on my blog. The lovely and gorgeous blogger Indiglow Girl sent me a lovely email to let me know that she couldn't comment on my blog. So I have fixed the problem and everyone can now leave their supporting and lovely comments for me to read!

For you to leave comments at the bottom of each post it will say 0 comments so click on that and a pop out window should come out. You also have to be a registered user... SO get cracking. If this is a problem feel free to send me an email. I am new to this blogger world so all the help is needed.

I was looking through more photos to find something interesting to put onto todays post, and I found this dress I bought at the start of the year that I was going to wear to a friends wedding in Airlie Beach. I got it online and it was the last one in a size 10. Wishful thinking I was hoping it would fit me so I purchased it anyway. When I got it, it was too big :( only around the bust I just needed bigger boobs. But its soooooo pretty and it's def my style. So I am now back on the hunt for it. Its by honey and beau an australian label which I LOVE! Reasonable pricing too, but I guess everyone has different ideas on pricing. Spending $150-$200 on a dress doesn't phase me, but it does to my fiancé hehehehhe.

Hope you love the dress as much as I do! Have a lovely evening.

Coffee Date Dress Creation!

Hello lovelies! Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! I sure did, I had the whole weekend to myself, didn't see anyone but my fiance and it was lovely weather. Pity I stayed inside sewing all weekend :)

Saturday morning I headed to Maitland Spotlight and bought some fabrics. I got calico to do a mock dress first before I sewed the coffee date dress. Then I picked some pink fabric for my actual dress and I found some cute bright coloured striped fabric. I am going to make another dress out of it. And I purchased a Spotlight enviro bag for 10 cents!!! what a bargain, I was pretty chuffed with it and bragged to my fiance. He thought I was loser :)

So after some drama... I wont go into too much detail but long story short. I printed out the wrong size pattern the petite size.. wishful thinking I reckon! So I had to reprint a bigger size pattern and cut that out AGAIN! So here is my result, this dress was suppose to be a test out but it looks soooo cute I have to wear it!

Please excuse my dodgy facing job, My next dress will be perfect! Tonight I will probably start on another dress depends how lazy I am. I have alot of free time this week so I should get another done soon. I work all day tomorrow, have Wednesday off, only work four hours Thursday and then head to Seal Rocks from Friday till Sunday. Then head back to work Tuesday... God i love my life! Well I better go and enjoy my beer in my very cool beer glass I found whilst op shopping.

Thank God it's Friday!!!

Thank god it's Friday!!! Dinner is in the oven, half of a bottle of wine is polished off, now waiting for the "Other Half" to come home from work.

Last night I cut out my pattern for my coffee date dress I am going to make tomorrow.I went to sit down on the lounge room floor to cut out my pattern and my fiance had a smart arse smile on his face. I said in my defensive voice, "What?", he goes, "oh its cute how you love art's and crafts". Ah Arts and crafts? since when is sewing Arty and crafty? OK maybe crafty! He jokes that I'll be a crafty mum who will do scrap booking, painting and I'll sew clothes and costumes for our children. His Mum studied fashion as well when she was young. He said she always made them clothes when they were younger. He was allowed to pick his fabric and his Mum would make him something awwwwwwww. One time his Mum made his sister MC hammer pants...Remember those MC Hammer pants? His brother and him used to call them poo shooter pants! Hahahahaha!

Anyway back to the coffee date dress, I got the pattern off burdastlye.com check it out! Lots of cool patterns some are free some you have to pay for....I think the most you have to pay is $5! Bargain! I am off the Spotlight this weekend to grab some poplin fabric for my dress. Probably get green or a nice brown colour fabric.

Below are some pictures for you... I am slightly bored if you can't tell!

My pattern I cut out last night. Next step get fabric and cut out pattern.

My cute little $5 Chinese slippers that my girlfriends laugh at whenever they come over! Hey back in my Sydney days these slippers were DA bomb, the cool thing to wear! Every girl I saw was wearing them including Moi!! I got them from a little shop in Town hall Station.

I was looking at an old work friends Facebook this morning and I was checking out her pictures. She had a few photos of some Asian girls that must of visited them. Every photo they were doing this...so it inspired me to do the same.. cause you know I am Asian if you didn't already know..:)

Then I decided to take it to another level and be a moron and do this.... joisus!

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!!
