Costumes

Well most of you lucky people will be jumping for joy as it's Friday! Well I have to work tomorrow :( But I really shouldn't complain as I only work for four hours and have EVERY sunday off! Anyways, next weekend I have my friend Chantelle's dress up party. You have to dress up as something or someone starting with the letter of your name. So of course my name is Pip so I have to dress up as something starting with P. I have already been to a P party before so I wanted to go as something very different.... So I decided to go as a..... PEACOCK!!!

I found this costume that I could order form America but I really didn't want to pay $120 for a costume for one night.

But then I found this site on coolest home made costumes and found this awesome costume this girl made.

So I searched the internet for peacock feathers, and being Australia we of course have nothing in our country! So I found a few sources in America but realised I have left it too late as I won't get the feathers in time...BUT I found some on eBay in a suburb that is 40 minutes away from my town! So I bought 30 peacock feathers for $55! More than I wanted to spend but hey I want my costume to stand out. This is the dress I am going to wear.

I have a few high waisted blets from Supre in black, gold and green. Not sure what colour I am going to use yet but I am going to glue the feathers onto the belt at the back. Fingers cross I get the feathers early next week and I can start getting the costume together. And I FINALLY get to wear my hair up in a quiff, I have been a little shy to wear my quiff up so I guess this will be the right time to do it.... wish me luck.
But wish me even more luck as I am going to Newcastle tomorrow to go to the football ..boo hooo my main dilema is what to wear.. such a crisis isn't it? :)
Have a lovely weekend everyone!!! xoxox

Summer and Sunshine!

Sorry no blog for yesterday... it was my day off so it involved cleaning my house, washing, grocery shopping, baking brownies (yum yum) more cleaning and myself lazing around in trackpants, daggy I know but they feel sooooo comfortable.

Yesterday I was going through my photos from my previous holiday at Airlie Beach in April and all I have to say is...SUMMER HURRY UP!!! After looking at my very drab and boring winter wardrobe I want Summer to hurry up as I love wearing dresses! Winter makes me wear black black and more black... got any blacker is my motto and statement for Winter!

Oh dear lord please hurry up summer. So to brighten up my day and your day with this windy and cold day, I've decided to post up my FAVOURITE dress I wore to our friend's wedding while we were at Airlie Beach. I have only worn this dress three times and need to get as much wear as I can out of it. Enjoy!

Daily Work Outfit

Hi again! Today started with a very cold crisp morning before I went to work. Worked all day today and it was pretty cruisy, not flat out like yesterday afternoon, but my day went quick and that was awesome.

This dress I am wearing is one of my favourite Mink Pink items, I wear this to death to work. I don't go out as much so I better get some use out of my clothes. I see no point in saving clothes for a "special occasion's" it should be special enough to wear anytime!

work outfit

* Black long sleeve top - Jay Jays
* Mink Pink Navy Printed Dress - Mink Pink
*Bonds Tights - Big W
*RMK Black Boots - Wanted Shoes
So sorry for the crappy photo's, my boy hasn't been around in the mornings to take a proper photo. Our camera is fairly new and I still don't know how to use it properly :)
Been vintage hunting on eBay, so hopefully in the next week or so I'll some awesome vintage goodies!!!

The races 1920's theme

Yesterday my girlfriends and I went to the races for the Hunter Melanoma Foundation. The theme was to wear a silly hat, but we decided to go a little bit more creative and dress up 1920's theme.
One of the girls already had a fringed dress, so I borrowed hers to copy it and made another three dresses. This was really simple, we just bought a long singlet from Supre and I put an invisible zipper on the side and then sewed the fringed fabric on the dress. I made the headband's as well which were very simple, just lots and lots of craft glue to stick the feathers on. And they turned out as a success, so successful that we won the best group prize! I definitely think we will be going again next year.

Hope you like our costumes as much as we did and all the other strangers we meet :)

The start of something new

Hi peoples! Welcome to pip a la chic! Just a quick run down on myself and what I'm all about, I am self confessed fashion junkie/victim and have started a blog to share my thoughts on fashion, share my daily outfits, my sewing adventures and creations, and of course to meet new and exciting people who have the same passion as me.... FASHION!

Since leaving my short lived fashion career in Sydney to move back home to the Hunter Valley I have not been able to work in the Fashion Industry as there are no opportunities here. Then a good friend suggested I start my own blog. I thought about it for a month and finally decided to do it. What harm will it do, plus it keeps me occupied and a perfect excuse for me to shop for more clothes :)

Below is my outfit to work today, I work in a children's boutique so I like to look presentable and not too "trendy" or "modern". Well that's what a few mothers have said me, I just like to wear clothes that I am comfortable with and that go with my style. The outfit is pretty boring but it’s comfortable and the jeans are brand new so I'll be going through that phase where I'll wear them everyday. The scarf I am also obsessed with, I have been flogging it and wearing it everyday. I just think scarfs brighten up an outfit.

*Knitted Black Top from Valleygirl

*Skinny Jeans from Just Jeans

*Scarf from Men's section at Big W

*Flat points from Aldo

Stayed tuned for some 1920's costumes! My girlfriends and I are going to the races this weekend and we are dressing up 1920's theme... Can't wait!
